Tunji Ige Finds Inspiration in Surrealist Art.
Tunji Ige is a 20 year old producer/rapper/singer born in Philadelphia to Nigerian parents. A former West Chester University sophomore, Ige has since left school to pursue music fulltime.
Known for minimalist production and sing-songy lyrics that draw comparisons to Drake, Kanye West, and Kid Cudi; he recently put out his EP Missed Calls. His new single, “War” has synthesized the feeling of summer with this smooth song and surreal visual shot in Los Angeles.
Beautiful aerial shots of the beach open up the video and lead into brightly colored scenes that look like moving paintings. “The Missed Calls cover was inspired by Magritte & other surrealist artists,” Ige told NPR. “My goal with the ‘War’ video was to make an extension of that-a piece of moving surrealist art.”
Did he accomplish that goal? Tell us your thoughts below.
